Everything You Wanted to Know About Mid-Riff
It's 2020, so the obvious thing to do was to create a podcast! :)
What is Mid-Riff, you ask? It's a podcast for listeners who care about gender, music, and music gear. It features interviews with cis women, trans, and gender-expansive folks about their experiences and how to make the industry better. Super seasoned and brand new musicians, makers, and retailers have been gracious enough to share their stories and thoughts about what works, what doesn't, what's rad, and what's terrible... all with an eye towards creating a space where power, expression, and change through music is a reality for folks of all identities.
Who will you hear? Interviews with Marissa Paternoster (Screaming Females), Alice Bag (the Bags), Ava Mendoza (Unnatural Ways), Rachel Blumberg (Decemberists, Death Vessel, Califone, etc.), Reba Mitchell (House Red, Whore Paint, etc.), Audrey Zee Whitesides (Speedy Ortiz, Worriers), Emily Harris (Get Offset podcast), Julie Robbins (Earthquaker Devices), plus more! There will also be an upcoming episode featuring a whole pile of awesome conversations with folks at NAMM!

What's the first episode about? I spoke to Rachel Blumberg about the *ahem* unique aesthetic of her first drum kit, transitioning from gear head denial to loving gear, band gender breakdowns, the woes and whoas of gear-carrying, and why buying gear should be like butter. The interview looked a little like this:
What if I have a question about gear or gender and diversity in my workplace or school? Send it my way and I will do my best to answer it! And if I don't have the answer, I will find someone who does. Each episode will feature one question-- and it might be yours!
